My name is Emily Farina, I am a twenty-something female, born and raised on the Pennsylvania Main Line and a proud alumnus of Cornell University (BS) and Georgetown University (MBA). I currently live in New York City and work in financial services marketing. I have a background in fashion design, as a Textiles and Apparel major at Cornell and having worked as a designer for BHLDN, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie.
I love when people ask me about where I bought something and I can give them an unexpected answer – like a bargain store, or Goodwill or a trip to another country. My style, whether in my clothing, accessories or my home is all about the mix – mix of high and low and here and there. I want to inspire other women to think outside the box- and that does not mean ditch certain labels or brands in favor of lesser known ones or only look to famous designers or brands. But rather be open to getting your stylish items from anywhere and everywhere.
I once read Scott Shulman (of The Sartorialist) describe himself as ‘visually greedy’. I immediately related to this self-description, knowing all too well how easily I become absorbed in photos, images, magazines, art, pinterest ... anything that gives me visual ideas I cannot get enough of. I am constantly looking for new outfit ideas and I found I love being able to track them in one consistent place. I knew if I was always looking for ideas for how to style a jacket, where to buy a new dress or what to wear to a wedding, others must be too. I don’t have the fanciest, the most unique, the most covetable or the largest wardrobe around, but I do have a passion for putting together outfits I love. I am someone who likes to dress so that I look pulled together, feel comfortable and express my personality. My blog is here to inspire, provide shopping tips, style ideas and make it easy for you to build a wardrobe you love.
The name Fizz and Fade is representative of two of my favorite things - celebrating life with some bubbly champagne and the casual style perfection of faded jeans.
