Slightly Shirted

Lately I've been really feeling for something that has taken a 180 degree turn from totally gauche to completely now. It's convenient, practical and was cool in the 90's. No not fanny packs, (though those have recently become relevant in my life as well) - tying a shirt around one's waist!

What was once a way to avoid carrying a jacket around an amusement park is now a means to further an outfit with another layer of texture or pattern. With mixed prints, patterns and textures so in style, why top your outfit with a plaid or denim shirt around your waist? I particularly like how these fashionable ladies did it:

When mixing different patterns, keep the prints in the same color family to avoid looking clownish or confused.

All white or a combo of pale hues look crisp with light denim or chambray. The blingy necklace and heels elevate the look and keeps things polished.

Green works as a common color to unite the florals and plaid.

A tailored blazer pulls the look together and prevents it from looking sloppy.

Have I convinced you yet?
