I never met a ruffle I didn't like and I often find myself gravitating towards ruffled items when designing. I made a cream silk tank with a ruffle hem a few months ago and have been wearing it all the time - to work, to get drinks, on the weekend. I picked up this navy chiffon fabric last weekend at Mood Fabrics and thought it would work well for a new version of one of my favorite recent designs.
As I plan to wear this top to work often, I wanted the neckline to be high enough that I wouldn't have to worry about baring too much skin. Length was also important to me as it had to be long enough to avoid crop-top territory without being so long that the silhouette would look strange un-tucked. I am planning to make another version with a high rounded neck next, with 3/4 length sleeves or maybe a lace version that would be great for holiday parties.
This Old Navy camel coat has quickly become my go-to outerwear piece this fall. It is lightweight yet warm and seems to work with everything I wear. The fact that this coat was also so affordable from Old Navy makes me love it even more. It doesn't get more classic than a camel coat, definitely worth investing in as you will be able to wear it forever.
