Napa Day 2

Our second day in Napa we were up bright and early for our hot air balloon ride. Afterwards we went back to our hotel so that we could shower and get ready for a day of winery visits. We started at Nickel and Nickel, which was delightful. We were in a small group for our tour that brought us around the beautiful property and into their cellars and also taught us quite a lot about wine-growing. The tasting was great, in a beautiful sit-down setting. We couldn't resist picking up a bottle of our favorite wine to bring home.

Our next stop was Round Pond where we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We sipped our tasting out on the patio under their giant orange umbrellas and took in the view. I didn't get too many pictures here to share, but it was a great spot to take a breather for a relaxing sit-down and we picked up some olive oils to bring to our friends in SF.

After Round Pond we headed to Frog's Leap which was every bit as magical as I could have imagined. Where we did the tastings was an adorable and chic little farmhouse that could easily pass as someone's immaculate home, it felt so inviting and warm. We did our tasting out back on the porch where you can look out into the property. With the afternoon sun it was absolutely perfect. This by far was my favorite winery we visited, at least for the decor and ambiance!

Naturally I got a bit snap-happy at a place this beautiful.

That night we went to Celadon in downtown Napa for dinner. The food was great, a lovely end to a wonderful day.

The following day we had plans to visit our friend's winery north of Sonoma, but had some time in the morning for one more winery visit before we headed out of town. We decided to stop by Silver Oak, as we had heard good things about their wines. They did not disappoint and we went home with another bottle. We couldn't resist taking a few photos in the vines before we hopped back in the convertible.

We heard amazing things about Fremont Diner and decided to stop for lunch on our way up to Sonoma. The food was amazing and the atmosphere of this roadside restaurant was adorable. I had the some kind of fried oyster dish with eggs and we shared a milkshake between the two of us. Definitely worth a visit!
