It's no secret that the holiday season brings with it lots of events that require dressier looks. While the wedding invites may be fewer, there are family parties, work events and visiting friends. I have been creeping on a few dresses from different designers and brands that I am particularly fond of, but also wanted to take the opportunity to get a little creative as well. I saw this dress from ASOS on Blair from Atlantic-Pacific and became obsessed with the vibrant sequins and the green color palette. Turns out I had a very similar teal silk fabric just sitting around in my sewing stash and decided to create a similar version of my own, just cause why not. A few clicks on Cartwright's Sequins and I was in business.

Red Coat
Coat : J.Crew (40% Off right now with code "HOLIDAY") / Sweater : Old Navy / Jeans : Old Navy (only $36!) / Flats : Purchased in Beijing / Bag : Loeffler Randall (similar) / Sunglasses : Ray-Ban
Sunday was a gloomy fall day and instead of staying inside to watch football, we made the trek uptown to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I had been wanting to go for a couple months now, as I had yet to visit since I've been living in NYC full time. I found out a few days ago that a new fashion exhibit was opening and my desire to go got even stronger.

Recent Design Work
While I was in college and afterwards when I was
working in the fashion industry, I was constantly flexing my creative muscles
and artistic skills. Whether I was sketching, selecting fabrics, creating
color and inspiration boards or sewing, there was always a project to
channel my creative energy towards. Now that I work for a financial services
company, the daily creative requirements are quite different and I find myself
needing another outlet to channel my creative interest. That is where this
blog started from, my desire to create a place to channel my fashion interest
and document my creative work.

Style Crush : Zanna Roberts Rassi
When I am looking for some style inspiration there are a few go-to muses that I always turn to time and time again to spark my outfit ideas. Olivia Palermo is the first of these style muses that comes to mind, who in my eyes can do no wrong sartorially speaking. She seems to have discovered the secrets to perfect skin, amazing hair and impeccable style, taking serious fashion risks and yet never taking a misstep.
Another style favorite that I am sharing today is Zanna Roberts Rassi. As a Senior Fashion Editor at Marie Claire and a style correspondent for E! News, staying on top of the trends is part of Zanna's work.

Shopping For : Cold Weather Jackets
Life
in New York City means braving the elements all. year. long. In the
summer that means sweltering humidity and steamy sidewalks and in the winter
that means frigid urban wind tunnels down city streets. Since most of us
living in the city don't have personal cars at our disposal, air conditioning and
heated seats are not part of the commuting experience.

Fall White
Everyone knows the old adage that says you can't wear white after labor day.
In recent years however, winter white has made a comeback and the old fashion laws simply no longer apply. I love white
jeans and think pairing them with sweaters, leather jackets and plaids
looks great once the weather cools down. Black is an old standby but white looks fresh and modern.
